Functional Rehabilitation: Moving With Ease
What is Functional Rehabilitation?
Functional Rehabilitation is a gentle and practical way to help your body move better in everyday life — even when you’re still dealing with some pain or discomfort.
Helping You with Real Life
Life doesn’t stop just because your back or body hurts. Simple tasks like loading the dishwasher, cleaning the shower, or doing household chores can feel really hard or even painful. Instead of telling you to avoid these activities, we help your body build the strength, stability, and body awareness it needs to do them more comfortably and safely.
We Have Tools to Help with Pain
Sometimes your muscles are so tight, tangled, or stuck in spasm that a chiropractic adjustment or massage alone can’t fully release them right away. In those cases, Dr. Cynthia Seebacher, DC, may recommend gentle tools like cold laser therapy or microcurrent therapy. These work deep inside your body to improve blood flow, reduce pain, clear out toxins, and support your natural healing.
Listening to Your Muscles
We also use functional muscle testing — a kind and gentle way to “listen” to your body. It helps us find which muscles are working too hard to protect others and whether there’s a disconnect between your brain and the painful area.
When you’re hurt or in pain, your nervous system is very smart. It finds new ways to move while protecting the sore spot. Over time, though, these protective patterns can cause some muscles to “turn off” or go offline. This makes normal movements feel harder. Through simple exercises and stretches, we gently help reconnect your brain and body — like turning the Wi-Fi back on.
Sometimes your muscles are so tight or "stuck" that a regular adjustment isn't enough. In those cases, Dr. Cynthia may use special tools to help:
- Cold Laser & Microcurrent Therapy: These use gentle energy to help your cells heal faster, reduce swelling, and clear out toxins.
- Muscle Testing: This is a way for us to "listen" to your body. We look for muscles that have gone "offline" because of pain. It’s like your brain’s Wi-Fi connection to your muscles is weak. We use specific exercises to turn that connection back on.
Supportive Tools for Home
You’ll often get easy “homework” — simple movements or stretches you can do at home to keep making progress. Many patients also enjoy our Core Restore program to build strength and stability in a supportive setting.
Dr. Cynthia believes that healing should be affordable and easy to do at home. While we have a decompression table in the office, she often recommends simple tools you can use every day, such as:
- Supportive pillows or foam wedges.
- Traction devices for home use.
- Kinesiotaping or supportive belts to help stabilize your body while you move.
- In some cases, she may suggest a back brace, trochanter belt, or Kinesiotaping to give extra stability while still allowing natural movement. These are always chosen just for you and used only when they truly help.
Investment in Your Healing
Functional Rehabilitation sessions are offered as a supportive part of your care.
- Pricing: $50 for a 15-minute session.
- Add-on Massage: If you’d like to add hands-on muscle work, you can add 15 minutes for $50 or 30 minutes for $75.
Note: Some insurance plans may cover certain parts of care depending on your policy. We’re happy to help you explore your options.
Our Goal: Empowering You
At its heart, Functional Rehabilitation is about giving you practical tools so you can move through your day with more confidence, less pain, and greater freedom in your body.
